Student Advocacy Day
Time & Location
About the Event
Fall is almost here! Our NSSLHA chapter is excited to jump start the school year by partaking in ASHA’s Student Advocacy Day Letter Writing Campaign. It takes as little as 3 minutes to fill out your information for the topic, and ASHA will instantly send a letter to your local representatives!
How Do I Take Action?
1) Select an issue to advocate on.
2) Fill in your name and home address (this identifies your elected officials) and submit.
3) Review the prewritten message (you can personalize it) that will be sent to your elected officials.
4) Hit submit and your message will be sent.
This is your chance to join fellow students to make your collective message heard. As future audiologists and speech-language pathologists, you’re going to spend much of your time being an advocate—for your clients and profession. Because you're entering a profession that can be affected by decisions made by your state and federal legislators, your advocacy is an important part of your profession.
This year the two highlighted campaigns include: "Ensure COVID-19 Legislation Recognizes the Needs of Future Audiologists, SLPs, and Schools That Train Them" and "Promote Workforce Diversity in Health Professions". Please follow this link to find a topic that is important to you.
You will get NSSLHA volunteer points for taking a screenshot of your confirmation email and sending it to firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope you join us in writing letters!
Enjoy the last few weeks of summer break,
