Hello and happy November!
Here at Portland State University, we can't believe how fast November has blown by! It has been another month full of events. Our PSU NSSLHA Chapter held a virtual Sustainability Presentation on November 5th. We partnered with PSU's Office of Sustainability to give us a presentation on sustainability. It was very interesting to learn about how we can help the planet during these already trying times, and that the little things make all the difference! Our chapter is also hosting monthly Faculty Food For Thought events where our Speech and Hearing Sciences (SPHR) faculty present on their current (or recent) research. This month, we presented Faculty Food For Thought with Dr. Maria Kapantzoglou on November 19th. This presentation was on "code switching and language proficiency in bilingual children with and without developmental language disorder". It is so cool that our faculty can share their research with all of the SPHR students! Lastly, our board continued the tradition of weekly virtual social hours on Mondays from 4:00pm-5:00pm. This tradition involves two of our PSU NSSLHA Chapter board members hang out on a zoom call and interact with SPHR students to continue community building within the department.
We hope you all had a safe Halloween holiday from Portland State University!
