Dare I repeat the oft-quoted phrase - I can’t believe finals are next week. November has flown by, and the PSU NSSLHA Chapter has been busy. We began the month with a fundraiser at our local Chipotle. The Board turned out to show our support for the event and finally meet each other in person!
We followed up the fundraiser with the first Faculty Food for Thought event of the year. We partnered with Dr. Jeff Conn to host a presentation and Q&A about gender-affirming voice and communication. The turnout at that virtual event was spectacular! We are very grateful for Dr. Conn’s shared time and experience.
Also held that week, our Multilingual Phonetics Club gathered to discuss the benefits of a multilingual and multicultural approach to clinical training and practice Spanish phonetic transcription. We thank Dr. Gildersleeve-Neumann for continually dedicating her time as the faculty partner of the club.
Finally, we closed out the month with a Medical Speech-Language Pathology-themed Food for Thought event hosted by Brandon Eddy, Cassie Quinn, and Dr. Deanna Britton. The turnout for this event was phenomenal. It is clear that our students are interested in learning more about practicing in a medical setting. We appreciate the information shared in this presentation and the hosts’ shared time with us.
We hope you all enjoyed a restful harvest break and stay safe for the holidays.
