We hit the ground running this month and hosted our first event of the term on the first day of class! This month’s Food for Thought: Dysphagia To Diagnosis event featured Faith Purnell and Jayne Miranda as they walked attendees through neurogenic case studies. The event was well-received and could have easily gone on twice as long. We greatly appreciate Faith and Jayne sharing their time and expertise with us!
We followed that event with a low-key student social hour hosted by members of the PDX NSSLHA Board. Attendees were invited to create avatars and move through the 8-bit inspired virtual space to play games and unwind. I tip my hat to our President, Teale Niles, for spearheading this event.
Finally, we closed out the month with a Multilingual Phonetics Club meeting. This month, I recruited some bilingual family members to record word and sentence samples to use for transcription practice - a big thanks to them for their time and support!
We hope you all do well on your midterms and stay safe out there!
