National NSSLHA -October Update

Updated: Dec 4, 2020

Hi everyone!

We are excited to be back to school at Portland State, as we welcome new students to the department, and with that, new NSSLHA members! This quarter has been blowing by at PSU and we have been very busy! Due to Portland State being completely virtual, our NSSLHA chapter launched our own website (https://www.pdxnsslha.com/)! This website is jammed packed with information including: how to join our chapter, information about our current NSSLHA board, and what events we have on the horizon. Our chapter is focusing on continuing a tight-knit community during remote learning and this website has already started contributing to that endeavor!

Since PSU classes have started we have held at least six events with about five new events already in the works! As our peers learn more about our local NSSLHA chapter, and the exciting events we have coming up in the future, membership numbers are steadily increasing even during these uncertain times. One of the most attended events we had in October was our Walk for Apraxia Fundraiser. Our NSSLHA chapter raised over $500.00 and was one of the top contributors in the state of Oregon!

I am so excited for the things my NSSLHA chapter is going to accomplish this year and will have more updates to come as we get into the swing of things on this virtual platform!
